A team from Marine View Presbyterian Church plans to install new Aler stoves in the villages of Piedras Blancas and Nuevo Mirador Piedras Blancas.
The village of Piedras Blancas (meaning: “white rocks”) was founded in 1978. It is located 39 miles from Barillas downtown. It takes over 3 hours to get to the village. There are 86 families in the village with an estimated population of 700 people.
The village of Nuevo Mirador, Piedras Blancas (meaning: “new viewpoint, white rocks”, we refer to the village simply as “Nuevo Mirador”) was founded in 1990, and is located 41 miles from downtown Barillas. It takes over 3 hours to get to the village by 4-wheel drive vehicles. There are 38 students attending school with an estimated 45 students for 2017.
